Well, there are many facts there that I definitely did not know! A great collection of information. So interesting that the mechanical harvesting reduces the life span of the trees by so much, sad really!

Thanks, Wendy. When i read that part about harvesting, I was shocked. But i guess efficiency above all. 7 seconds to pick all the cherries is unbelievably quick.

It seems to be the case with so much in the world, profits and efficiency above everything else.

I know, I lay here thinking about this for quite a while Wendy.

I was about to post a pic of some beautiful cherries I saw today at the market, when this popped on my feed :) a great read as usual. I love cherries! PS I thought the dessert in the first pic was a zeppola.

Thank you, Giovanna. You weren’t far off with zeppola. But it is actually Paris-Brest. The cherry on top is just a decoration and illustration of the phrase.

You are still on the other side of the Adriatic, I assume. 👋

Last night I had a craving for cherries and made a special trip to the supermarket to buy a big bag of them. Now that I know about their many nutritional gifts, I’m even happier that I mde the effort.

I was also surprised. Melatonin? Too bad they do t last long.

So we must eat lots while we can.
